This is a typical conversation from the Ruby version of Eliza with full rule set I’ve just pushed to github. I’ll describe it in another blog post soon:
eliza> Hello there How do you do. Please state your problem eliza> I want to see if you work Really-- if I work? eliza> Yeah. You're a computer program that I need to check. What do you think machines have to do with your problem? eliza> Well, you're a machine, right? Go on eliza> And since you're a machine and I need to check you, you are quite relevant to this discussion. What makes you think I am quite relevant to this discussion.? eliza> That you are a computer program What do you think about machines? eliza> They are evil. They want to kill me Possibly they are evil. they want to kill you eliza> Yeah. Please continue eliza> No You are being a bit negative eliza> Yes I understand eliza> I don't think you do Do you feel strongly about discussing such things? eliza> Yes, I really feel strongly about it What does that suggest to you? eliza> That you are a fake What makes you think I am a fake? eliza> Just intuition Please continue eliza> What's your name? Do you feel strongly about discussing such things? eliza> What is your name? What do you think?
Quite funny indeed, although there are some obvious glitches.
